Why is cricket called by this name?

D

o you love the game of cricket? Well then, you must have often
wondered where cricket got this name from. Some people say that the name comes from the old France word ‘croquet’, which means a kind of club, some say that there was a game called ‘creag elations ludos’, played during the time of the English King Edward l.
The origin of the mane is sometimes traced to the word “Krickstoel” which was a three legged stool used in Flanders. Perhaps it refers to the three wickets used in cricket? Or perhaps the word ‘cricket’ comes from wicket itself?
There is a theory that cricket was first played by shepherds on grazing fields. One shepherd would defend one of the wicket-gates in a paddock fence from being hit by stones thrown by another shepherd, using his crook to hit the stones away, and so ‘wicket’ became ‘cricket’!

ricket is a game of skills. There is specialist batsman and bowlers in a teams and everyone must be able to take catches, and also throw quickly and accurately se as to gat batsmen run out. He should move very fast so that he can get batsmen out by stumping. Bowlers must bowls is such a way that the batsmen cannot score runs easily, they must to make the ball swing to confuse the batsmen. In an ‘out swinger’ the ball moves away from the batsmen after it is struck. Spin bowlers bowl leg spin, off spin and the deceptive googly!
Batsmen will have to play different strokes, to score the maximum number of runs. It can be a forward defensive stroke, a cover drive is an attacking front foot shot, and the square cut is the riskiest shot. Batsmen should know when to play defensively and when to attack, and hit runs so as to ensure their team’s victory.
